Anthony M. Sheard, 16, a Niagara Falls High School sophomore, died Wednesday after he was shot while committing a robbery, according to police.
Born in Norfolk, Va., he moved to Niagara Falls several years ago.
He was a captain of the Niagara Falls High junior varsity team. He also ran track, and was on the school diving team. He played basketball for Potter's House Christian Community Church.
Survivors, all of Niagara Falls, include his parents, Latise and Rodney Sr.; three brothers, Lavon Smith, Rodney Jr. and Darondah; four sisters, Ashanti, Sonya, Shavonna and Kaneigah; grandparents, Clemmie and Doris Smith, and Doris Bradford; and a great-grandmother, Mattie Mitchell.
Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday in Potter's House Christian Community Church, 1002 Niagara Ave., where friends may call during the hour before the service. Interment will be in Riverdale Cemetery.
