A Niagara Falls husband and wife who pleaded guilty to child molestation were placed on probation Friday by Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Sperrazza, but the husband will have to serve a short jail sentence.
Gerald D. Zimmerman, 46, of Lockport Road, will serve six months behind bars before starting a 10-year probation term. Diana R. Zimmerman, 34, will be on probation for six years. Gerald Zimmerman admitted to two counts of attempted first-degree sexual abuse, and Diana pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree sexual abuse.
The victims, a boy and a girl, were 6 and 7 years old during the incidents between August 2002 and February 2003. The Zimmermans pleaded guilty to reduced charges during their second trial after the first ended in a hung jury.
