Joseph Jastrzemski, coordinator of the Niagara County Sheriff's Department work program, has announced his intention to run for town supervisor.

"The Town of Wilson is in need of a strong and new leader, and I am seeking the opportunity to be that leader," said Jastrzemski, an independent who once served a brief stint representing the 14th District in the County Legislature.

Jastrzemski is treasurer of the National Lacrosse League Officials Association and is on the board of directors of the Western New York Football Officials Association. He also is a member of the Niagara Parks Commission and is a Wilson High School wrestling coach.

"I want to serve my community by getting Wilson off to a great start in this new century," he said. "That means making sure that we are on sound financial footing. I will work closely with the Town Board to ensure that we are spending every taxpayer dollar wisely."
