A memorial service for Elizabeth O'Donnell of Lancaster will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 43 Pine St., East Aurora.
Mrs. O'Donnell died Monday in St. Joseph Hospital, Cheektowaga, following a lengthy illness. She was 89.
The second of eight children born to Hungarian immigrants, Mrs. O'Donnell's birth was registered by her parents a day late, on Feb. 12, Abraham Lincoln's date of birth, because of their pride as new American citizens.
The former Elizabeth Sabo lived in East Aurora from the 1950s until 2001, when she moved to Lancaster. She was a homemaker and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and its Golden Group.
Mrs. O'Donnell was a 19-year cancer survivor. Her husband, James F., died in 2001.
She is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Palmquist of Sicklerville, N.J., Debra Hensley of East Aurora and Eileen of Lancaster; a son, Joseph J. of Cheektowaga; two sisters, Irene Hardie of Cheektowaga and Pearl Yuhas of Oceanside, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
