Nellie M. Young of Buffalo, a health care aide and counselor, died Friday in ElderWood Health Care at Heathwood, Amherst, after a long illness. She was 53.
Born Nellie Hunt in Stanton, Tenn., she came to Buffalo in 1973 and earned a bachelor's degree from Medaille College.
After working in the maintenance department at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, she was a health care aide for Catholic Charities and a foster care counselor at My Brother's Keeper.
Surviving are her husband of 11 years, Albert II; two daughters, Marie and Valera, both of Buffalo; a son, Patrick Hunt of Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif.; her father, Sam Hunt Sr. of Stanton; a sister, Annie B. Hunt of Baltimore; six brothers, Emmitt Hunt and James Hunt, both of Cleveland, Charles Hunt of Stanton, Husley Hunt of Brownsville, Tenn., Sam Hunt Jr. of Buffalo and Ezzard Hunt of Chattanooga, Tenn.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Elim Christian Fellowship, 20-25 Central Park Plaza. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery, West Seneca.
