Audrey B. Heppeard of Amherst, a retired secretary, died Thursday in Millard Fillmore Hospital after a long illness. She was 87.
Born Audrey Baker in Batesville, Miss., Mrs. Heppeard moved to North Tonawanda as a child and lived there until moving to Amherst two years ago.
A graduate of North Tonawanda High School and the Central School of Business, she worked as a secretary for 20 years with the Tonawanda Boxboard division of Continental Can Co., and the food service department at the University at Buffalo.
Mrs. Heppeard was a 70-year member of First United Methodist Church of North Tonawanda, and a former president of its United Methodist Women organization.
Wife of the late Foster "Sam" Heppeard, who died in 1987, she is survived by her brother, Glen Baker of Arkansas; two stepsons, Douglas and Harold; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church, Main and Tremont streets, North Tonawanda. Burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
