A dispute between neighbors may have led to the poisoning of a 27th Street resident's dog on Saturday, police said.
The man took his 18-month-old mixed-breed dog to a veterinary hospital after he found it vomiting blood. Tests confirmed that the dog had ingested rat poison, police said.
When the man returned home he found a poison container had been placed along his fence where his dog could reach it. He told police that a neighbor had threatened to kill the dog in the past.
