DEMOCRATS PICK COCH TO RUN FOR LEGISLATURE

Allegany County Democrats have endorsed Carla Coch of Alfred Station for the vacant seat on the Allegany County Legislature.

Robert Heineman of Alfred resigned from the Legislature at the end of March to create the opening.

Coch, who ran unsuccessfully for the seat in 2001, has served as a member and president of the Alfred-Almond School Board and has taught English at Alfred University and English as a second language in area secondary schools, colleges and industries.

She holds a bachelor's degree from Vassar College and a master's degree from Case Western Reserve University, with course work for a doctorate completed.

Republicans in District V, which includes the Towns of Alfred, Allen, Almond, Birdsall, Burns, Grove and West Almond, have scheduled a meeting April 19 in Almond Town Hall to discuss a candidate.
