Fredonia pitcher Bobby Edwards (Silver Creek) threw 185 pitches over nine innings in an 11-10 win over visiting Oswego Monday in the first game of a doubleheader. In pitching his fourth complete game of the season, Edwards struck out three and walked three. Tied 10-10 in the bottom of the eighth, Phil Gavin doubled home Matt Baudo (St. Joe's) with the winning run.

Oswego won the nightcap, 7-2. Fredonia is 2-8 overall, 2-4 in the SUNYAC.

Elsewhere: Hilbert dropped a pair to Penn State-Behrend, 14-5 and 10-0. Sam Gioia had three hits in the opener for the Hawks.

SOFTBALL: The University at Buffalo won the opener of a doubleheader with Canisius, 1-0, as Ann Magur drove in the winning run. The Golden Griffins rebounded by scoring seven runs in the sixth inning in a 7-2 win in the nightcap at Nan Harvey Field. Jessica Martin's RBI double highlighted the Canisius rally.

Elsewhere, Medaille bombed Wells College, 16-0 and 22-2. Michelle Peruzzini (JFK) had a no-hitter in the opener while Shannon Superczynski (Villa Maria) drove in six runs. Sara Louis (Barker) and Amanda Baker had three hits each in the nightcap in support of Denise Sievert's (Fredonia) four-hitter. . . . Alfred ended a five-game losing streak with a doubleheader win over Hilbert, 6-0 and 10-1 in six innings.

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: Canisius midfielder Whitney Card was named the MAAC's lacrosse Rookie of the Week after she tied a school record with six goals in a 19-9 win over Iona. . . . Galen Ford (Orchard Park) of Fordham was the the Atlantic 10 men's outdoor track rookie of the week after clearing 6 feet, 6 inches to win the high jump at the Rider Invitational. . . . Sarah Wright of Fredonia was named SUNYAC Goalie of the Week and softball pitcher Megan Gollaher of Hilbert was named Allegheny Mountain Conference Pitcher of the Week. . . . Christine Keleher of St. Bonaventure (North Tonawanda) was named Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week. . . . Niagara lacrosse goalie Whitney Gill was named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week.
