Ralph E. Traber Jr., 76, of Silver Lake and Gulf Port, Fla., died Friday in Highland Hospital in Rochester.
Born in Rochester, he grew up in Perry on the west side of Silver Lake. He graduated from Houghton College and was a professional engineer for Stone and Weber, a nuclear power plant construction company based in Boston, Mass., from 1973 until his retirement in 1994.
Mr. Traber was a member of First Baptist Church in Largo, Fla., and an avid sailor with the Silver Lake Yacht Club. He was a former member of the Baptist Church of Perry.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Della Green; two sons, Lanny of Perrysburg, Ohio, and Terry of Farmington; a daughter, Kim VanderMallie of Farmington; two sisters, Bessie Marion Hill of Rochester and Mary Elizabeth Jones of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Silver Lake; and six grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Castile Baptist Church. Burial is in Glenwood Cemetery, Perry.
