ACTIVISTS WILL DISCUSS 'LIVING HISTORY' THEME

Three local civil rights activists will have a panel discussion Wednesday at Housing Opportunities Made Equal's 42nd annual meeting and dinner.

With the theme of "Living History . . . No One Simply Passes Through," the event begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Buffalo Convention Center. Call Shannon Koehn at 854-1400 for ticket information.

Panelists, and long-term members of HOME, are: George Hezel, founder and director of the University at Buffalo's Affordable Housing Clinic and an Aurora town justice; Leeland Jones Jr., a member of Buffalo's Commission on Citizens' Rights and Community Relations; and Mamie Beale, a retired scientist who's active in several organizations.

Elizabeth G. Clark, a lawyer for Hogdson Russ, will receive this year's James Crawford Award for outstanding service to HOME. High school seniors Anthony White, of Williamsville North, and Jessica Kroecker, of Holland Central, will receive Joanne Champion Granger scholarship awards in recognition of academic achievement and commitment to human rights.
