J. Joseph Long, a former sales manager, died March 27 in the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care after a long illness. He was 62.
A Buffalo native, he graduated from Canisius High School.
He served in the Army Reserves from 1964 to 1971.
Mr. Long, of Orchard Park, was regional sales manager for Ralston-Purina Co. for 23 years, retiring in 1996.
He had been a religious education teacher at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, secretary of Grocery Manufacturers Representatives and a facilitator for EPIC parenting group of Buffalo.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, the former Mary Lou Nienhaus; two sons, Patrick J. of Richmond, Va., and J. Michael of Milwaukee; a sister, Ann E. Argento of Maple Grove, Minn.; and two grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. April 23 in Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 26 Thorn Ave., Orchard Park. Burial will be in Nativity Cemetery, Orchard Park.
