A vacant barn burned to the ground Friday on Cayuga Drive Extension.

The fire, whose cause remains under investigation, was reported about 5 p.m. Niagara County sheriff's deputies said one member of the Frontier Volunteer Fire Company was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center by ambulance with injuries suffered while fighting the flames.

His name and information about his condition were unavailable Friday night.

Bergholz Volunteer Fire Company also responded to the fire. The barn was owned by Wilbert C. Milleville, investigators said. The loss was estimated at $115,000.
