COUNTY WORKERS ARE GETTING A TASTE OF THE REAL WORLD

I am writing in response to all the stories in the paper about the people who lost their jobs due to the county's financial crisis. While I hate to see anyone lose his job, in today's economy, it is a fact of life.

I have lived here all my life and have been employed full time for more than 28 years. In that span of time, I have been laid off, gone through plant closings, worked at jobs that were not as good as my previous one and worked two or three jobs at a time to make ends meet.

In all that time, I have been out of work for only five weeks. Don't get me wrong, I did not enjoy all of the jobs I had, nor did I like to work more than one job, but I did what I had to do to support my family. I did not complain or have news stories written about me because that is the way it is when working in the private sector.

Hopefully, the displaced workers will find other work that is as good as the job they lost. But if not, they must do whatever it takes to support their families.
