International Steel Group, which operates a former Bethlehem Steel plant in Lackawanna, has temporarily idled its west side operations in Cleveland, after about 11 months of production.
About 140 employees have been assigned to training or maintenance duties within ISG Cleveland, company spokesman Chuck Glazer said. Most are hourly-paid members of the United Steelworkers of America.
ISG Cleveland's steelmaking is predominantly at its much larger operations on the city's industrial area. Glazer said the decision to idle the west side operations was based on market demands.
