Police in the Niagara Falls area are trying to track down a man who is cheating local homeowners with promises of fixing roofing problems, Niagara Regional Police reported.
Police said a man is approaching homeowners in the Culp Street and Drummond Road areas of the city, offering to clean eaves, gutters and fix roofing problems. After he receives a cash down payment between $50 and $150, the man never returns to do the work.
In some cases, the scammer provides a handwritten receipt to the homeowner. The male is described as between 30- and 40-years-old, thin build and approximately 5-foot-8, clean shaven with collar length curly brown hair.
Anyone with information regarding the suspect is asked to contact Detective Constable Tracy McCabe at the Niagara Regional Police Service, (905) 688-3911, Ext. 2213.
