Lois R. Calkins, a retired nurse, died Wednesday at home after a lengthy illness. She was 63.
Born in Warsaw, she was a graduate of Genesee Community College with a degree in business administration and a graduate of the Steuben-Allegany Board of Cooperative Educational Services School of Practical Nursing. She worked for many years as a nurse with the Finger Lakes Developmental Disabilities Services Office, retiring in 2001.
Following her retirement, Mrs. Calkins worked part time at Applied Business Systems in Batavia and the Warsaw Pennysaver.
Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Robert; a son, Douglas of Varysburg; four daughters, Carolyn Putnam and Deborah Wolak, both of Varysburg, Diane Wilkinson of Warsaw and Sherry Dersham of Pavilion; two sisters, Marjorie Vanderburgh of Williamson and Julia Barone of Perry; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw. Burial will be in Johnsonburg Cemetery.
