Donald Reed Leonard, a former manufacturer's representative, died Monday in his Attica home after a brief illness. He was 79.
Mr. Leonard was a Navy veteran of World War II, stationed in the South Pacific.
He was a partner in B.F. Tollefson Associates in Rochester for many years, retiring in 1990.
Mr. Leonard was a member for 54 years and past assistant chief of the Alexander Fire Department. He was also a longtime member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Attica.
Despite suffering from arthritis for almost 50 years, he lived an active outdoor life and enjoyed fly fishing, walking in the woods, hunting and golf. In later years, he enjoyed woodworking.
His wife, June Hoover Leonard, died in 2003.
Survivors include two sons, Chris of Victor and Tim of Attica; two daughters, Kathy O'Brien of Apalachin and Mary Schoppmeyer of Walpole, N.H.; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial Eucharist will be at 11 a.m. April 29 in St. Luke's Church, 30 Favor St., Attica.
