Two women pleaded not guilty in Niagara Falls City Court Tuesday to serving alcohol to minors.

Both women were arrested separately early Saturday in downtown bars on charges of unlawfully dealing with a child and first-degree prohibited sale of alcoholic beverages.

Tia M. Sawyer, 19, of 75th Street, was arrested at 2 a.m. Saturday in Club 427 on Third Street for allegedly selling beer to a 19-year-old.

Courtney Martino, 20, of Woodlawn Avenue was arrested at 1:45 a.m. Saturday in Rum Runners on Main Street for allegedly selling alcohol to an 18-year-old.

Both women were released on their own recognizance with court dates adjourned to April 13 for Sawyer and May 2 for Martino.

According to state law, people can work as bartenders at age 18 even though the legal drinking age is 21.
