MAN PLEADS NOT GUILTY IN FATAL STABBING

Ismail A. Mohomed was ordered to remain jailed without bail Monday by State Supreme Court Justice Russell P. Buscaglia in the fatal stabbing of a Buffalo man after he pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder, manslaughter and weapons charges.

Mohomed has been jailed since he surrendered to police three days after a Feb. 12 butcher knife attack on Omar Abdi in the stairway of the victim's Elmwood Avenue home. Mohomed, 23, of Hampshire Street, was indicted by an Erie County grand jury last week.

A native of Somalia, Abdi, 42, was killed during an argument, according to police reports.
