An East Delavan Avenue resident averted a gunpoint robbery Saturday afternoon in his home when he took a swipe at the gun that was being held against his head, causing the two robbers to flee his house, police said.
Northeast District police said the incident occurred at about 1:30 p.m. when two men entered an apartment at 232 E. Delavan with three women and one man inside.
Police said one of the robbers pointed a .22-caliber handgun and said, "Give us the money or someone is going to get popped." His partner entered the bedroom and smashed the telephone.
