Karl G. Dirschedl of Cheektowaga, a retired General Motors employee, died Friday in Sisters Hospital after a long bout with diabetes. He was 62.
Mr. Dirschedl worked for General Motors' Chevrolet Plant on Delavan Avenue for more than 37 years. He also ran Genesee Wine and Liquor.
Born in Buffalo, he graduated from Canisius High School and attended Canisius College.
Known for his good nature, his friends called him "Fat Cat."
He followed baseball all his life. .
He belonged to the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife, the former Bernette Kastner; his mother, Marie Loeffler of the Town of Tonawanda; two sisters, Barbara Heckmann of Kenmore and Cathy Radcliffe of Albany; and two step-sisters, Margie Niemczyk of West Seneca and Marian Wischerath of Cheektowaga.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary of Sorrows Church, 333 Guilford St.
Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
