JULY 6, 1918 -- MARCH 31, 2005

John E. "Jack" Pegelow of Medina, a World War II veteran and former auto parts salesman, died Thursday in Medina Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was 86.

The Medina native served with the Army in the Pacific during the war.

Back home, he worked for a NAPA auto parts store in the Medina area.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Medina, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Lincoln Post No. 1483 and the Medina Council No. 651 of the Knights of Columbus.

His wife, the former Isabelle A. "Izzy" Raymond, died in February.

Survivors include a son, Peter M. of Medina; a brother, Donald, of Castro Valley, Calif.; a sister, Ruth McPherson of Medina; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 2 p.m. today in St. Mary's Church, 211 Eagle St. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.
