Electronics manufacturer Celestica Inc. said it will close its Fort Collins plant within a year, putting some 800 employees out of work in a region still recovering from the high-tech bust.

The decision is part of the Toronto-based company's consolidation plan. Celestica said in January it would lay off 5,500 of its 47,000 workers worldwide. It has already announced plant closings in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Raleigh, N.C., and Salem, N.H.

Overall, the closings affect more than 1,500 workers, including some 500 full-time workers and 300 part-time employees in Fort Collins.
