A large marijuana growing operation was uncovered Thursday afternoon at a King Street address in Fort Erie, Niagara Regional Police reported.
Police, armed with a search warrant, raided the house at about 2:15 p.m. Thursday and uncovered a complex marijuana growing operation with a large number of marijuana plants in various stages of growth. The plants had an estimated street value of $257,000.
Also inside was about $25,000 worth of equipment. All of the items were seized.
Police were following up on a complaint for the theft of electricity at that address, which led to the raid. No arrests were reported, and police are continuing to investigate.
