Jamestown attorney Kenneth M. Lasker has been nominated as the Chautauqua County Democratic Party's candidate for district attorney.

Democrats also elected County Legislature Chairman Keith Ahlstrom of Dunkirk as their new county party leader. He will succeed Elections Commissioner Norm Green, who has been serving on an interim basis since Sally Smith stepped down as County Democratic chairwoman earlier this year.

Republican leaders have not yet made an endorsement for a candidate to run this fall. The name of attorney David Foley has been forwarded to Gov. George E. Pataki's office by Republican leaders to be considered an appointee for the remainder of the year.
