Derek Roy scored the tie-breaking goal and helped set up the insurance tally by Jason Pominville as the Rochester Americans defeated the Albany River Rats, 3-1, in the American Hockey League.

Roy's goal snapped a 1-1 tie at 10:17 of the second period. He and Chris Taylor then set up Pominville's goal with 51 seconds left in the period as the Americans (19-7-3-3) won their sixth in a row.

Rochester's Milan Bartovic and Albany's Pascal Rheaume traded first-period goals.

Rochester goalie Tom Askey stopped 34 shots, 17 in the third period, to earn the win. Ari Ahonen stopped 27 shots for Albany (9-17-4-3).
