Henry A. Podsiadlo Sr. of Depew, a retired butcher and former owner of a meat market, died Sunday in St. Joseph Hospital, Cheektowaga, after a brief illness. He was 87.
A native of Depew, he graduated from Depew High School.
He owned Podsiadlo's Meats & Groceries in Depew for 25 years. He later worked as a salesman for A. Szelagowski & Son/Tobin Meats, retiring in 1982.
He was a lifelong member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church and vice president of the Usher Society. He also was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
A hunter, he was a founder and charter member of the Depew Rod & Gun Club.
He was a past member of the Board of Education of the Depew Union Free School District; a member Aerie No. 2962, Fraternal Order of Eagles; and the Senior Citzens Center of Depew.
He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and golfing.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, the former Angeline Starczewski; two daughters, Janice Fischer and Barbara, both of Lancaster; two sons, Henry A. Jr. and Daniel, both of Depew; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Wednesday in St. Augustine's Church, Depew. Burial was in St. Augustine's Cemetery, Lancaster.
