The Buffalo Board of Education will hold a public meeting Thursday evening to consider name changes for four schools. The meeting, broken into four segments, will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Buffalo Traditional School, 450 Masten Ave.

The first discussion, starting at 6:30, will deal with School 31 (Stanton Academy). One of the possibilities being considered is Harriet R. Tubman School of Excellence.

At 6:50, the board will discuss a possible new name for School 37 (Futures Academy). Among the proposed names are Jesse Ketchum School and Marva Daniel School.

A middle school located in the former Emerson Vocational High School on Sycamore Street will be next, at 7:20. The school will house middle-school pupils currently attending School 171 on East Delavan Avenue and pupils in grades five through eight at Buffalo Traditional. Proposed names for this school include Eugene T. Reville School, East Side Middle School and Sycamore Academy.

The final discussion, at 7:45, will deal with the former East High School on Northampton Street. Suggested names include William Bennett School and East High School.

The public may comment on any of these name proposals or submit new suggestions.
