Hires/Promotions Honors

Network in Aging of Western New York elected Richard Gehring, Meals on Wheels of Western New York; Carl Granger, University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and Center for Functional Assessment Research; Jane Harrington, M&T Bank and Laurie Menzies, Elder Law attorney, to its board of directors.

Webster Szanyi named Jennifer C. Persico an associate at the Buffalo law firm. A graduate from the University at Buffalo School of Law, Persico concentrates her practice on defending premises liability, motor vehicle negligence and municipal tort liability claims.

Planned Futures Financial Group financial adviser F. James Ginnane was elected to serve as a member of the Million Dollar Round Table's Ethics Committee for the second time. Ginnane is a 27-year member of the MDRT and one of only five members from the U.S. and Canada who were chosen to serve on the committee. MDRT membership is recognized as the standard of sales excellence in the life insurance and financial services business.

Hiscock and Barclay partner Catherine Wettlaufer will speak at the New York State Bar Association's Seminar titled "Hot Topics in Trusts and Estates Practice.N Wettlaufer's practice focuses on trusts and estate administration, business succession and family planning and tax matters at the Buffalo office.

American Society of Tax Problem Solvers presented an administrative assistant training program geared towards the support staff of tax professionals who represent taxpayers before the IRS. Created by Lawrence M. Lawler, managing partner of Lawler and Witkowski and the national director for the AMSTPS, the two-day program was held in Buffalo in early November and covered all aspects of the support staff responsibilities of tax problem resolutions cases.

Tapecon, a Buffalo manufacturer of pressure-sensitive labels, decals, membrane switches, custom fabrications and digital printing, was ranked 48th in "Business Forms, Labels and Systems" in the Top Suppliers in North America Category. The industry trade journal also ranked the company 18th in the Top Label and Tax Suppliers Segment. The rankings were published in the October 2004 issue of the journal.
