GRANT TO HELP DESIGNATE ROUTE 219 SCENIC BYWAY

State Sen. Dale M. Volker, R-Depew, announced Tuesday that he has arranged for a $15,000 state grant to help designate Route 219 in the towns of Orchard Park, Boston and Concord as a scenic byway.

"By acquiring scenic byway designation for this roadway," Volker said, "this 'Gateway to the Southtowns' will ensure that these world-class scenic views and potential recreation activities can be properly advanced and protected for future generations of New Yorkers to enjoy and take great pride in."

"Route 219 has enormous tourism potential and is a hidden jewel among our three towns," Orchard Park Supervisor Toni Cudney said. "By designating this portion of Route 219 as a scenic byway, we can expand economic development opportunities, diversify the tax base and protect our environmental assets."
