FIRST SUSPECT ARRAIGNED IN STABBING OUTSIDE CLUB

Derrick M. Royster, 25, of Welch Avenue, Niagara Falls, Tuesday became the first of three men to be arraigned in a May 22 stabbing outside the 427 Club on Third Street in Niagara Falls.

Royster pleaded not guilty in Niagara County Court to first- and second-degree gang assault. Similar charges are pending against James H. Schmahl, 25, of Walmore Road, Wheatfield, and Jorge L. Santiago, 26, of Whitney Avenue, Niagara Falls.

The victim, Mark Simmons, 32, of Niagara Falls, was stabbed in the buttocks and legs.
