Duke's basketball team again had the upper hand over Michigan State, thanks to J.J. Redick and Daniel Ewing.
The backcourt duo each scored 29 points and made five three-pointers, helping the 10th-ranked Blue Devils hold off the No. 11 Spartans, 81-74, on Tuesday night in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge in Durham, N.C.
Redick had 21 points in the first half, and Ewing took up the slack after the break, scoring 15. Duke (4-0) improved to 6-0 in the made-for-TV challenge and beat the Spartans (3-1) for the second straight season.
Elsewhere, DeWitt Maxwell scored five of his 22 points in the second overtime as Fairfield beat Manhattan, 81-73, in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Terrence Todd also scored 22 for Fairfield (3-2, 1-0 MAAC), including 19 after halftime. Peter Mulligan led Manhattan (3-1, 0-1) with 19 points.
