TIMELY GIFT -- Autistic Services has received a $10,125 grant from the East Hill Foundation to expand its multisensory therapeutic environmental program, according to William J. Dimmig, director of development for the recipient agency.

He said that through specialized equipment, the agency's multisensory rooms provide nonthreatening, relaxing and interactive environments that reduce behavioral challenges and remove barriers that hinder individuals with autism from learning.

"We have had tremendous success incorporating the multisensory rooms into the individual service and educational plans of our individuals," said Veronica Federiconi, executive director, "and we are very grateful to the East Hill Foundation for giving us the opportunity to expand our program." . . .

COMPLETES BASIC -- Airman Jacob A. Martin, the son of William Martin of Buffalo and Linda Marinaccio of Lockport, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

Martin, a 2001 graduate of Hutchinson-Central Technical High School, learned all about military customs and courtesies, how to drill, marksmanship and other skills during the six weeks of basic training. . . .
