BALANCED ATTACK WINS FOR NARDIN

Five Nardin players scored in double figures as the Gators opened Monsignor Martin Association girls basketball play with a 77-46 win over Cardinal O'Hara.

Kendra Brim and Jasmyn Castro each scored 12 points for the winners while Kelly Hasslinger, Natalie Hojnacki and Emily Urbanski had 10 points apiece.

Melissa Kannaley led the losing Hawks with 15.

NONLEAGUE: Jordan (22) and Lindsey Schrimmel (10) combined for 32 points and eighth-grader Alexis Wayne scored eight points in her first varsity game as Depew defeated Villa Maria, 56-37. . . .. Roy-Hart opened its season with a 68-31 loss to Rush-Henrietta of Section V. Jessica Smith had 13 points and 12 rebounds for the losing Rams. . . . Tonja Rouse scored 20 points to pass the 1,000 career mark as she led Forestville over West Valley, 57-27, in a season opener for both teams. Rouse is the second girl to reach the 1,000 plateau at Forestville and needs just 34 points for the all-time record. Kelsey Sherwood had 15 points for the winners while Diane Frank led West Valley with 10 points. . . . Karlie TeCulver scored 19 points and had six assists and four steals in Clymer's 47-28 win over Maple Grove. Sarah Lyon had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners.

Boys basketball

Rob Linhardt scored 14 points, Jimmy Zitz had 13 and Joe Kelleher added 10 for Newfane in a 60-54 win over Lew-Port. Steve Pusateri and Andres Kroetsch had 14 each for the losing Lancers while Josh Flock chipped in with 11.
