Estelle Zientara, who worked for a half-century at Buffalo Weaving, died Friday in St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a brief illness. She was 89.
Born in Buffalo, the former Estelle Slomka attended Assumption School. She worked for several years in the 1930s as a department store sales clerk. She was hired in 1940 by Buffalo Weaving, where she worked until her retirement in 1990.
A member of Assumption Church, she was active in the Rosary Society, Altar Society and Mother's Club. She also was chairwoman of the Villa Maria College Pencil Day.
She most recently resided in Lewiston.
She is survived by a sister, Sister Mary Marcilia Slomka of Buffalo; three grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Prayers were said today in Orlowski-Amherst Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Assumption Church. Entombment was in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
