Rick Lawrence will try to become the first bowler since 2000 to win back-to-back Professional Bowlers Association Tour titles when he faces Jason Hurd of Titusville, Fla., in one of the two semifinal matches today in the PBA Pepsi Open at Northrock Lanes.

Mike Edwards of Tulsa, Okla., will face Tour points leader Danny Wiseman of Baltimore in the other semifinal (1 p.m., ESPN).

Lawrence, a left-hander from Celina, Texas, defeated Brad Angelo of Lockport in the final of last week's Open. One of Lawrence's three victories Friday was over Joe Ciccone of Buffalo in the Round of 16.

Ciccone won the first two games of his best-of-seven match with Lawrence, 233-210 and 214-205, and after the Texan had evened the match, took a 3-2 lead with a dramatic 289-288 victory. However, Lawrence won the sixth game, 215-190, and the seventh, 201-155. His win over Steve Wilson, 4-2, in the round of eight put him in the final. Wilson had ousted Angelo in the round of 32.
