Bobby who? ...
Kate Bosworth, who's all of 21, admits she had never heard of Bobby Darin before landing a co-starring role in a film about the 1950s crooner.
Bosworth plays Darin's sweetheart, Sandra Dee, and Kevin Spacey portrays the singer in "Beyond the Sea," which had its British debut in London this week.
"I knew absolutely nothing about Bobby Darin before this film, but now I'm a huge fan," said Bosworth, wearing a black cocktail dress by Yves Saint-Laurent for the occasion. "There is darkness and tragedy in the story, and it was a dream for me to land this part."
Spacey said Dee, who now lives as a virtual recluse in Los Angeles, approved of the film. "She called me last week and said she loved it," he said.
A serving of advice ...
Rocker Steven Tyler served up turkey and a helping of advice on Thanksgiving at a substance abuse treatment center for women.
Tyler, front man for the band Aerosmith, shared his own struggles with drugs and alcohol with the two dozen residents of Women's Hope in Boston.
"If I can just tell them how good it is for me now, and that it is possible ... then I've done my job," said Tyler, who lives in the Boston area.
The singer, who has been clean for nearly 20 years, describes himself as "a living example" that addictions can be conquered.
"Letting go and letting God really does work," Tyler told the women.
Call her Mimi ...
Mariah Carey has a message for fans: Call her Mimi.
The singer now joins the list of divas who've taken an alternative moniker, such as Jennifer Lopez (J.Lo) and Madonna (Esther), reports MSNBC.com.
In fact, Carey's new name will appear in the title her forthcoming album: "The Emancipation of Mimi."
"Mimi is a very personal nickname only used by those closest to me," Carey explains on her Web site. "Just one of those little things that I've kept for myself in an attempt to have some delineation between a public persona and a private life."
Shades of Janet ...
Angelina Jolie rarely makes a misstep when she takes to the red carpet. But the statuesque actress suffered something of a wardrobe malfunction at her latest movie premiere, reports Hellomagazine.com.
At one point, Jolie's slinky wraparound top slipped out of place to reveal her brassiere. The Oscar-winning actress, who was promoting her new film "Alexander," was quickly alerted to the mishap by her co-stars.
She seemed to take the accidental expose in stride, despite the laughter of director Oliver Stone and leading man Colin Farrell.
