BOULTON SIGNS PACT WITH ECHL TEAM

To get back on the ice, Buffalo Sabres winger Eric Boulton is returning to his roots.

Boulton signed with the Columbia Inferno of the ECHL, the league in which he began his pro career in 1996-97. Boulton was in the lineup Friday night for a game in Charlotte and had a hooking penalty in the first period.

Boulton is the third locked-out NHL player in the ECHL, joining ex-Sabre Curtis Brown (San Diego Gulls) and New Jersey's Scott Gomez (Alaska Aces).

Boulton has 17 points and 511 penalty minutes in 172 career NHL games, all with the Sabres.
