W. FALLS, AURORA PHONES ARE CUT OFF BY WET CABLE

Telephone service in the East Aurora area was down for several hours late Wednesday and Thursday because of a wet cable, authorities said.

The 652 and 655 exchanges, located in most of West Falls and parts of the Town of Aurora, went out of service beginning about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

East Aurora police said Verizon employees determined that a large cable had been soaked in water. Efforts had started to dry out the line, but it was unknown when service would resume, police said.
