FAMILY GATHERING OCCURS AT FINISH OF TURKEY TROT

It was quite a Thanksgiving for the Christiansen family of Greenville, Pa.

Eleven-year-old Jacy Christiansen took first place among women in the 109th annual YMCA Turkey Trot in Buffalo. She covered the 8-kilometer course in 30:09. Christiansen finished six seconds ahead of Murphee Hayes-Falls of Marathon. Rebecca Heuer of Orchard Park was third in 30:22, and also was the fastest masters racer among women.

The Christiansen family came close to doubling their fun, as Jacy's older brother Jed finished second among men with a time of 24:39. He couldn't catch Todd Witzleben, who successfully defended his championship with a time of 24:25. Two other Christiansen brothers, Job and Jake, finished in the top 20.

Witzleben is from West Seneca and is a former Atlantic 10 cross country champion.

Jason DeJoy of Henrietta was third among men in 24:49, while Mike Platt of Syracuse was the male masters winner at 25:56.

It was another strong turnout for the annual run, as 5,558 registered runners took part.
