The Bar Association of Niagara County elected Thomas W. Scirto president for a one-year term. Scirto is a Lockport attorney in private practice and chief counsel for the Niagara County Department of Social Services. Noonan and Jewell appointed W. Michael Cassell an associate at the Orchard Park accounting firm. Cassell graduated from the University at Buffalo School of Management and Niagara University and most recently was with Jaeckle Fleischmann and Mugel serving in law firm administration.

Volland Electric Equipment Corp., a rotating electrical apparatus repair and distribution company, appointed Rich DiChristina panel shop manager for its newly acquired Panel Manufacturing Division, Lang and Washburn. DiChristina was previously with Se-Mark Electric.

Millard Fillmore Gates Circle was designateded an "Energy Star" hospital by the Environmental Protection Agency. The Energy Star designation recognizes that the hospital has used technology and developed strategies to make it one of the most energy efficient hospitals in the country.

Penrose Design Studios was selected by A&E Architects of Billings Montanato create new concierge chandeliers and desk torchiers for the lobby of the historic Old Faithful Inn at Yellowstone National Park. The fixtures will be fabricated of steel, mica and art glass. This is part of ongoing renovations of the inn involving the Park Service, the inn's vendor, Xan Terra and A&E Architects. The Boston Hills lighting design studio produced lighting for the new Snow Lodge at Old Faithful in 1997, and currently is working on projects at Crater Lake, Grand View condos in Jackson Hole, Grand Canyon and a private lodge in Montana.

Tops Markets presented $8,000 to the Food Bank of Western New York for the purchase of 800 turkeys for needy families this Thanksgiving holiday. Also, Honeysuckle White, through its "More to Share" program donated an additional 200 turkeys.
