A 24-hour candle-lighting relay will be held Dec. 12 in the Compassionate Friends' Third Annual Worldwide Candle-Lighting Event.
This year's ceremony to be held in Lincoln Park is in memory of Noah Boser, who at 7 months old died while under the care of a local day care provider. The international event is held on the second Sunday in December at 7 p.m.
As candles burn down in one time zone, they are lighted in the next, creating a 24-hour wave of light that encircles the globe.
The local event begins at 6:30 p.m. in Lincoln Park, at State and Union streets. Families and friends who have lost children are invited to bring a photograph sealed in plastic. Candles will be lit at 7 p.m., with ornaments hung on a special tree to be displayed during the holiday season.
