Elaine Wright-Nelson, a former Buffalo resident, died Nov. 14 in Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital, Demopolis, Ala., after a brief illness. She was 50.
Born in Buffalo as Elaine Wright, Mrs. Wright-Nelson graduated from South Park High School in 1972. She worked for various manufacturing companies before leaving the Buffalo area.
She was a member of St. Brigid's and later Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic churches.
She left Buffalo in 1997 when she married Robert Nelson and moved to Bellamy, Ala. While there, she worked as an employee of Golden Flakes in Birmingham before leaving on disability in 2002.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Demond A. Wright; two stepsons, Robert Nelson Jr. and Mario Nelson, both of Bellamy; one stepdaughter, Shanna Nelson of Bellamy; four brothers, Edward Wright Jr., Eugene Wright, Eric Wright Sr. and Ernest Wright Sr., all of Buffalo; two sisters, Evon Wright Steward and Eunice Jackson, both of Buffalo; and two step-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 317 Leroy Ave. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
