No injuries were reported Saturday in a fire at the former Union East Elementary School at 3500 Union Road, Cheektowaga, authorities said.
A room on the south side of the building collapsed as firefighters from the Forks Volunteer Fire Company battled the blaze, which started at about 7:30 a.m., fire officials said.
Police Capt. John Glascott said Cheektowaga's Arson Investigation Unit was seeking the cause of the fire.
No damage estimate was available for the structure, used mostly for storage, office space and credit union.
The fire closed a section of Union Road about two hours. The U-Crest and Bellevue fire companies assisted Forks volunteers.
