Richard Joseph Gutta, a retired high school drama teacher, died Nov. 6 in Niagara Lutheran Home following a long illness. He was 78.
Born in Johnstown, Mr. Gutta moved to Buffalo in 1960. He received a bachelor's degree in drama at the State University at Albany. In addition, he did some graduate work at the University at Buffalo.
Before retiring in the early 1980s, Mr. Gutta was the drama teacher at Kensington High School, and he headed the drama department at Buffalo Performing Arts Center.
He collected clocks and had a collection of works by William Shakespeare. He also constructed miniature homes and furniture.
