Claude Tolbert, a retired custodian, died Tuesday in Sisters Hospital after a short illness. He was 71.
Mr. Tolbert was born in Coxton, Ky., and graduated from Conley High School in Mullens, W.Va. He moved to Buffalo at the age of 21.
Mr. Tolbert worked in the custodial department of the University at Buffalo from 1972 to 1995, when he retired.
Active in Jehovah's Witnesses, he also enjoyed reading, classic cars, watching "Animal Planet" and visiting friends and family.
Survivors include five daughters, Lauretta Hicks, Esther Kregg, Kim Miller and Claudette, all of Buffalo, and Kelly Tolbert of Atlanta; a son, Timothy of Waterloo; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 185 Kensington Ave.
