Buffalo State football players Perry Taglienti (Lancaster), Michael Holbok (St. Joe's) and Jonathan Allen were selected as Atlantic Central Football Conference (ACFC) First Team All-Stars. Taglienti, a linebacker, was second in the ACFC with 109 tackles, becoming the first Bengal to surpass the 100-tackle plateau since 2000. Holbok finished second in the ACFC with nine sacks and 41 tackles. Allen was the leading receiver in the conference, making 48 catches for 547 yards and five touchdowns.
Elsewhere in football, Chris Purtell (Pioneer) was named to the College Sports Information Directors Academic All-District I team. Purtell, an economics and political science major, anchored a Hobart defense that did not allow a 100-yard rusher all season and ranked first in the league in rushing defense (94.7 yards per game).
In college wrestling, Mark McKnight (125 pounds), Dana Gingerich (141) and Jeff Park (heavyweight) won their matches in the University at Buffalo's 21-9 season-opening loss to visiting Bloomsburg.
