Niagara Wine Trail
All five wineries on the Niagara Wine Trail will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 4 and noon to 6 p.m. Dec. 5 for a special Holiday Happening.
For $5, you receive a complimentary glass, wine tasting and cookies plus five Christmas ornaments.
Participating wineries include: Warm Lake Estate, Niagara Landing, Eveningside Vineyards, Marjim Manor and Vizcarra Vineyards, all on the wine trail along Route 104 in Niagara County.

East Aurora opening
Borealis, an American bistro, is now open at 687 Main St., East Aurora. The restaurant, which occupies the site of the late Patina, is owned by Jeanne Stewart. The chef is Christopher Morgan from Rochester. Both lunch and dinner will be served Monday through Saturday. Call 652-1640.
Wine and chocolate
Wine and chocolate has long been reputed to be a no-no, but it doesn't have to be. To prove it, Bob Syracuse of the Pizza Plant, 8020 Transit Road, Williamsville, is holding a free wine tasting with Ron Jordan, a k a the Wine Guy. On the list: Van-Ruiten Taylor Cab-Shiraz and something he calls a "surprise" Zinfandel with a variety of chocolates. After the tasting, guests are invited to stay and enjoy live music with Pete Worden. Call 632-0847.
More nouveau
A tasting of the 2004 Beaujolais Nouveau vintage is scheduled for Monday in the Asa Ransom House, 10529 Main St., Clarence. The evening will feature a 15-liter barrel of Georges Duboeuf Villages Nouveau flown in from France for the special evening. Sample hors d'oeuvres, too. The cost is $15 per person.
