On Saturday evening, Slayer will mess with your mind. The band just might clear up your sinuses, too.
The veteran metal outfit beats a bloody path to the door of the Dome Theater, 1713 Main St., Niagara Falls, for a 7 p.m. Saturday show. And yes, Virginia, the band is indeed bringing along its infamous "wall of blood." That's all we'll say on the matter.
Speed-metal aficionados know that no band is mightier than the Kerry King-led Slayer, a group with more grind-per-decibel than Metallica and more angst per square inch than Mercyful Fate and Anthrax combined.
This is virtuosic destruction, an eardrum-assaulting melee rife with images of untimely ends, Armageddon and political corruption, which might have seemed like the stuff of adolescent fairy tales at one point, but now sounds a lot like the evening news.
If you like metal, then Slayer deserves your respect.
Opening the show will be two of the most buzzed-about new bands on the metal scene, Killswitch Engage and Mastodon.
Tickets for Saturday's show are priced $27 advance, $30 day of show (Home of the Hits, New World Record, Ticketmaster). Or call 852-5000.
